This full-featured sewing and quilting machine is an entry-level sewing machine, and whilst it has an extensive range of features, it is also straightforward to use.

The only downside that we could ascertain was that the machine doesn’t have an automatic thread cutter but will have ALL the benefits. This is one of our best sewing machines for quilting.

2. Brother CS7000i
Although an entry-level machine, the Brother CS7000i sewing and quilting machine is very well received and has been a number one seller on Amazon for many years. It is very affordable and packed with features.
Features include:

- 17 pounds
- 70 built-in stitches
- 7 styles of 1-step buttonholes
- Automatic needle threader
- Auto thread cutter
- Easy bobbin winder

3. Brother HC1850
The Brother HC1850 Sewing and Quilting Machine comes with the ‘easy-to-use stamp of approval and way more features and benefits than the price would indicate on the more cost-effective side.
Some of the features include:

- 10 pounds

The only downside we could see was that, as the machine is light, it was suggested that it might tip if being used on larger projects.

4. Brother PQ1500SL
The Brother PQ1500SL Sewing and Quilting Machine is one of the more expensive Brother machines, but it has been designed with Quilters in mind, so I think we would expect to pay a little more?
The machines top features are:

5. Janome 2212
From what we’ve read, the Janome 2212 Sewing Machine is an ideal place to start, if you are just beginning, of course. Whilst the range of stitches is limited. However, the machine is of excellent quality and very easy to use.
It’s features include:

- 7 inches
- 15 pounds
- 12 built-in stitches
- 5 piece feed dog
- 4-step buttonhole
- Drop feed – perfect for free motion quilting
- and free arm drop
The Janome products are well-known, extremely reliable and can give you many years of use, it’s also intuitive (always find that amusing about a machine) and can help you just about a sewing project.

6. Janome MC6650
A professional review says, of this machine, “Janome quilting machines are known for their high-quality brands, and this is no different.’

So, this machine is not a cheap exercise, so we’ll get that out of the way right up front, but its features include:

- Updated LED lights
- Aluminium die-cast arm and bed for low vibration operation

Even the name instils appeal! Although this ‘feature-rich computerised machine is excellent value for its price, it’s perfect for a beginner with enough features to appeal to more experienced quilters.

Quoted “For such an inexpensive, computerised machine you get a lot. But, if you want the best sewing machine that does everything without breaking the bank, then you can’t go wrong with the Singer Quantum Stylist 9960 Sewing Machine – plus, it’s great for beginners and experienced users alike.”
Not sure we need to go on but here are some of the features
